Because He Bled My River

My faith is not placed in earthly things, or my trust in common man,
for each of these in their particular time, will return unto the land.
My wealth is not measured by sheen of silk, or by the glitter of gold,
as each of these will one day be consumed by rust and mold.
I‘ll not be beguiled by one single thing this temporal world is offering,
since my treasure is stored in heaven alone at the throne of Christ my king.
For peace does not transpire from circumstance, vacillating to and fro,
nor does joy rely on happenstance, slow to come and quick to go,
and hope looks not to any worldly king, for mortal man could never save
you from a single moment of dark oppression as sin’s eternal slave.
All the fleeting things the world has offered me, those, now I count as loss,
for there is no life apart from He whose love stained Calvary’s cross.
My faith, I’ve placed in Jesus Christ who became my one way in
when in love He hung upon that tree and bled the river of my sin.
