Love Poem: Backwards

Backwards

Running into my heart, you were permitted a moment,
You could see all the parts where my heart had been broken,
Fear was kept at a distance, opinions were shed,
Instead of running with your heart, you ruled with your head,
That aftermath birthed ruin, but you kept running,
Until you turned around to see all those opinions meant nothing,
You had to walk miles backwards to run into me again,
You had to let go of control to face your heart in the end,
Your travel through time made you weary and weak,
Yet the tears of confrontation led to your inner peace,
What meant nothing to them meant everything to you,
Your eyes were opened, you saw the truth,
True colors flashed before your very eyes,
The ones you never payed attention to or recognized,
You struggled to accept what your heart had to see,
You painted your own picture of conformity,
The pain shocked your heart back into place,
You'll never go back to sleeping state,
When truth sets you free, the pain is very real,
But the end result, you got your heart back to feel.
