Love Poem: As We Grow Old

As We Grow Old

Only mundane trappings have I to give
To lure this goddess away from the crowd
Oh, I was given but one life to live
Let me live it with her before my shroud

Green eyes and auburn hair - teeth of white pearl
Great beauty exists in that simple face
Grant me the time to explore this new world -
And ponder in depth a veil with white lace

I see in her eyes she doesn't belong
Where wealth comes and goes with a smile and wink
I am a pauper, have been all along
But I am a lover more than you'd think

Tell her of silver then tell her of gold
Then,oh, let me love her as we grow old
