Love Poem: As Lovers Do

As Lovers Do

The morning offers its softer hue
to snuggle against wet leaves, glistening in the sunrise
You and I walk the gentle slopes of windblown grass
to reach the farthest hill...as lovers do

Our palms clasped tightly
like oyster shells, covering the rarest of pearls
destined for love's eternal gate, which guards our heart
as we wander beneath pastel red skies turning velvet blue

We search the hill's rolling contours
and seek to feel the morning's cool breeze
as dawn's glorious splayed light
sweeps across the hillside in slow motion
revealing an explosion of flowers nestled in the grass
to calm our restless souls, as they awaken from slumber
like morning shepherds
awaiting the first breathless light of sunrise
to beckon a kiss and feel a thousand tiny fingers
pulling back the curtain from love's passion
allowing the sunrise to form shades of parting... from our kiss
and welcome the first rays of light in blissful tenderness
as lovers do...
