Love Poem: As Good As It Gets

As Good As It Gets

Mostly still in sleep’s valley,
You doze in my arms
As the light of day blossoms
Revealing more charms.

And your breath has a rhythm,
Occasional sound,
Like the rustle that leaves make
When breeze rakes the ground.

I can feel my blood rising
To welcome the day,
Though the challenge of aging
Does not go away.

There’s a weakness of body
And creaking of soul,
That reminds us life’s fragile
Love charges a toll.

We pay fee without thinking
Until it is gone,
Like a child that is missing
Or friend’s life bygone.

Witness hope we’re immortal
The smile on my face!
Each day’s prospect of blessing
Puts faith in right place.

If a man’s soul exists then
Does death have a sting?
Those who rest in Love’s arms need
To fear anything?

And if man has no soul then
Your death ends it all,
There’s no Hell or hereafter
For us to appall.

Should we trust God is real then
Or swear He is not?
Well, He MIGHT not exist but
Where’s value in thought?

Take a walk in a garden
When feeling alone,
And if friends do not call then
Just pick up the phone.

I’ve found God’s fond of sharing
If I want to hear,
And when I REALLY need Him
He lends me his ear!

If you think you’re not worthy
Your head is on straight,
Know it’s Grace that is key to
Unlocking the gate.

Are you shy? Tap on windows
Or knock on His doors!
But already you’re loved by
The God who adores.
