Love Poem: Arrival of Venus

Arrival of Venus

She rose from the waters,

Off the shores of Cyprus.

Her long hair shimmering

Through the twilit sky.

Dripping, as she emerged,

Dragging her feet

Through the sand, then,

As she collapsed to her

Knees, not knowing of whom

Would be watching, as she let

Out a scream. Above her,

Circling, were an unkindness

Of ravens cawing her name.

For she was Venus, the one

And the same. In all her

Splendour, her beauty intoxicating,

She came. Never would life

Ever be the same. Every man

On earth, would kill for her.
