And Heart Be Still

Reject this love
Though drawn to it,
Let it not take root
And rule your veins,
Let it not breed
A moment longer,
Or take refuge in your dreams
And brains.

Reject this love
With fist of fury,
Be dammed before
You sip its glory,
Reject its tune,
Reject its taste,
Reject the urge to quench
That thirst,
Reject this love
though you may burst.
And heart be still.

Reject its color
And its gold,
Reject sweet lies that it has told,
Reject its call,
Though torn apart
Let not this thing
Consume the heart,
Too love, is bitter sweet indeed,
Reject this want,
Reject this bleed,
And heart be still.

Reject this love
It can not be,
What burns inside
Do not set free,
Reject desire,
Reject the sun,
For no light shines when day is done.
Reject this love,
And heart be still,
You beat to fast
You weaken will.

Reject this sugar,
Reject this sting,
And pray it not find entry
Through the cracks
that weep within,
And damn you heart.
Who trembles on
Reject this love
And heart be strong
