An Adventure of Love

The resplendent sun rose from behind the purple hills.
Below acres of golden corn grew tall and erect.
Along the side of the fertile ground fed by some rills.
Jeannine came out and my poor heart filled with love unchecked.

I ran to the field to meet her, ready with a kiss.
Together we ran into the jungle of the corn.
I thought she ran quite agile and I was full of bliss
I had to have that cheerful kiss that happy bright morn.

Time passed so slowly and I called her several times.
Worried I hurried to meet her parents at the farm
We all searched, all hoping it was just a pantomime.
We found her safe hidden in a musty but safe barn.

She said she heard some noise, she should not have gone apart.
She hid, afraid of crime, feeling the pounding her heart.
