Love Poem: Am I Dreaming

Am I Dreaming

Am I dreaming
Am I in love
Did the nights just become better
Are the days gleaming with sun
Did I just breach
when you were in reach
Did you sign a love letter
Did my diary just get better and better

Am I dreaming
I remember the mirror
when I talked to myself being alone
but there you are breaking the dawn
Arm in arm were the teens
but, I waited it seems
until true love showed under the clouds
the thunder clapping, serendipitously loud

The submarine speaking its mind
I rewind the lips on velum, lover signed
Am I dreaming
or did you appear
as I showed up like a buttercup from boot’
and you snatched me up from the group
I was your Friday, the others rest

Am I dreaming
or were we married
in the courtyard, as I marveled at the promise
I made to to you, and to God in my mind
The Spirit lassoed me before I accepted truth
He knew ahead of time - a threefold cord
The devil couldn’t separate two
who would one day be inseparable

Am I dreaming
Am I in love
for forty-five years, though some seemed long,
but now time flies and were having such fun
Thankful, you’re in reach
that we support one another
and have a lifetime to revisit
knowing each other so well, having kids
and grands; not separate, but kindly successful

Am I dreaming; do I take things for granted -
expletive NO! It was hard work and worth
every minute, hour, year and decade.
Deliriously in love with your eyes and smile.
You ARE worthwhile
and thank you God!
