Love Poem: After the Fault

After the Fault

When Konrad was ready to kick the stool and the bucket

The nature lover he had always been he chose the canyon

Fixed the solid noose to the sharp edge at the cliff edge

Took a few downers to lessen the pain and the steep fall

Was his worst bad enemy and waited for courage in silence

Just then a guardian angel appeared a sort of Fairy Queen

A Gypsy woman with bells and jingles changing the tomb

Into long forgotten tunes of love kindness compassion

She knew deep in her heart what Konrad had waited for

Had stood at the abyss in tempest yet weathered the storm

It took a leap of glorious faith and he stepped forward

Not knowing what trust would reveal in an ultimate step

For a while the hangman’s promising hawser held on

Meta-morphed into a bungee and suspended the flight

It still took a lot of climbing to reach the unknown climax

Those dangerous times are long gone but never discarded

Unimaginable story lines can have fortuitous endings

And beginnings outstretched on the ragged fabric of life

The angel is now his best friend soulmate and lover

Joined with his loins mind soul spirit and passion abound

Konrad vaulted the void as the world had turned upside down

And found intimate tenderness where darkness had been

Now together the two travellers cherish the glorious mountain

Found stars moons and a whole galaxy of rainbows and sunshine

Listen to comets deep in the knowledge that eclipses are fleeting
