Love Poem: Adrift

Adrift

Adrift I have been cast,
Out upon the raging sea,
All around there are people,
With word of wisdom for me.

But their words mean nothing,
Against this raging storm,
But they insist on speaking,
They just have to inform.

Yet the waves still climbing,
Blotting out the black sky,
They come without timing,
But onwards I still try.

The salty spray so bitter ,
Stinging my soft skin,
Chilled to the bone,
I take it on the chin.

Rocking motions abound,
Out on this wild sea,
Spinning me around,
From this I can’t flea.

My small boat is filling,
With the cold and salty brine,
My soul is less willing,
Than once upon a time.

Downwards I am drifting,
Sliding under the frothy sea,
Forever towards the depths,
Like I’m so much debris.

In the darkest of my hours,
I turn to the one I love,
Only for me to realize,
It was she that gave the shove.

Now I am all alone,
On my long drift down,
Sinking like a stone,
Destined I am to drown.
