Addictions Lament

Written in 2004

Intangible emotion that crests on the horizon
Leaving me reaching in vain
Impossible dreams that haunt my slumber
Leaving me in nothing but pain

Your words fall cold upon my aching heart
Chilling me to the core
Making each moment spend in your hold
A bloody, emotional war

My fists wish to beat upon your chest
My lips wish to scream out their hate
But what good would it do to act out my rage
Would it change the course of our fate?

Helpless, I wait, inside of the void
My love for you has created
Watching from a distance as you slip away
Into the darkness your own will has fated

love brings pain
turns to hate
becomes indifference
...and the light dies
