Love Poem: Acquiesce

Acquiesce

You placed my heart upon a shelf
Thinking of no one but yourself
Now you’re begging me to come back
But when alone, I stay on track

I’m sure that if I “acquiesce”
To your unexpected request
I’ll end up on that shelf again
Growing intolerance for men

So, my ex, I must say farewell
On pain you caused I will not dwell
If I gave in, returned to you
I’d surely wish I’d bade adieu

Another gal will come your way
If you acquiesce, she might stay
