A Year Today
My Son you were my only one
A year ago you called me Mum
Then you were taken far too soon
Without a warning
on that fateful morning
This very day a year ago
when someone called
you had to go…
So today we celebrate your life
a life too short ~ just 49 years
Since you went ~ oh so many tears
for none of us had known
you would not be coming home
We are trying to get through Son
for none of us had known
on that fateful day

Now sharing memories bittersweet
some joyous ~ some fun ~ some quite unique
But our memories never die my Son
as the love you left behind for us
in times of grief can ease our pain
We gently shut our eyes
and you are with us once again
You take us with you soaring high
for just a moment our spirits fly
We see your signs my darling boy
and when we do they bring such joy
Even though our tears are close
sweet memories we recall
Of joyous days spent in the sun
Such golden days
So full of fun…
