Love Poem: A Touch

A Touch

Helpless in the Winter’s storm
I tried so hard; could not get warm.
The leafless trees seemed sad to me.
The air was cold. No melody

Came from the birds. My darkest hour
Lay on my shoulders. All it’s power
Seemed to suppress my inner light.
This was my dark and lonely night.

I stopped to catch my breath a while
And thought about the way you’d smile
At sunlight breaking through the clouds
And suddenly depressing shrouds

Became a touch that warmed my heart.
I’m waiting now for Spring to start.
Then I’ll relive through memory
A thousand gifts you gave to me.
