Love Poem: A Thousand Miles

A Thousand Miles

I stared at your car turning the corner
And a tear slid down my cheek
I didn't want to see you go
My heart was breaking, piece by piece.
Silently, I turned away from the window
Where I had stood watching you leave
I didn't want to watch you go
But it was something I had to see.
The next few days were a blur
Just swirling and passing by
I can't remember what I did
Or even if I cried.
I thought only of you
Your laugh, your love, your smile
I sadly wished I could be with you
If only for a little while.
But I knew that moment had passed
And new things were to come
Whether I actually liked it or not,
I knew I had to move on.
I have come so far away from you
Half a world, a million years
A thousand miles, I have walked
Blindly, through my tears.
I have not moved on just yet
I'm still walking through some of the pain
Easily, one step at a time,
Trudging through the rain.
But I do wish sometimes
When the storm gets really bad
That I were asleep forever
So I wouldn't feel so sad.
So here I am, and there you are,
Still half a world away
But I've stopped walking the thousand miles
Just to see your face.
