A Tale of Immortal Love Part I

For Janet, now and forever...

Once there was a girl who loved a boy so much,
But she was diffident to tell the boy her love,
For the people might think that it is not right,
She must wait for the boy to make the stride.

The girl waited for the boy to make the start,
She patiently held her longing heart,
But the boy was too young to realize-
Or was he actually blind?

So the girl found ways to impress the boy,
She would wear cute dresses and buy him toy,
She would do anything just to catch his eyes
Like a goddess showing her paradise.

But the boy’s feeling was so deathly numb.
He didn’t even think, how could he understand?
Or was it because of innocence
For they were too young to love?

But the girl Janet did not just give up,
Everyday she found ways to show her love,
Though in implied and oblique ways,
For she did not want the boy to be dismayed.

Her innocent love was so pure and blind,
Seldom to have, seldom to find,
Love that was so young, so faithful and kind,
Love that was so chaste and saccharine.

For in her mind, a true love waits,
The time for longing will soon pass like the dates;
For in order to reap the heart of the spice
Someone must make an ardent sacrifice.

The days have come and gone like tears,
And so they both have aged more years,
The boy had become a pleasing handsome man,
The girl has turned into an absolute woman.

And just like change, her old feeling remained,
The time had come again to comprehend,
For Janet it was like the breaking of the dawn-
A time to paint, a time to spawn;

A time to sail, a time to glide,
A time to row, a time to ride,
A time to hike, a time to stride,
A time to leap, a time to astride.
