A Scent of Loving Memories

“Come fluttering words, come drifting words to me...”
Let the memories fly into my mind, so I can see.
The simple smell of a flower can do so much.
Times of fun, laughter, or even his touch.

Lifting the scent off of these flowers into my nose,
brings back chills, that shimmer from my head to toes.
So many moments connected to the petals of the daisy.
Long ago, now so clear, these memories that were once hazy.

If only for a second, the leaves open up their stoma,
and in that minute time, release their empowering aroma.
Flood gates of my past open, pouring into my mind so clearly.
Time stands still, eyes close as she remembers him dearly.

Daisies he gave to her, as her first suitor he did call.
Giving off a fragrance she'll never forget and a love for all.
Knowing what true love is, knowing it doesn't cost a dime.
They were a perfect match, if only for a short period of time.

The smell brings back the memories we once shared.
In a time when the world was ours, a forbidden love we dared.
The scent makes me want, the one thing that I crave.
I'm remembering the scent they gave off, from your grave.

The perfume of love, a daisy will always bring together us two.
The sweet smell of a daisy will always remind me of my love for you.
