Love Poem: A Sad Wind Blows

A Sad Wind Blows

Oh cruel fate, you call me to depart,
Throw feelings to the wind and fly away,
Well knowing the emotions of my heart
Are anchored in this home and bid me stay.

My life has been a carousel of change
A kite which rides each breeze that comes along,
And though the thought of constancy is strange,
For once I know it's here that I belong.

The children I have loved as if my own.
Likewise I've grown to value and admire
A Father, who such tenderness has shown;
Their happiness, his paramount desire.

A spoonful of sweet promise won't suffice
To soften painful parting's bitter price.
