Love Poem: A Raging Storm

A Raging Storm

lying close together
on a blanket by the shore
the sanguine sun goes slowly down
and gently kisses the horizon’s lips
as fuchsia fingers of the night
caress the twilight of the sky

the ocean breeze that gently blows
is tickling wanton flesh like
kisses from a passing butterfly
while undulating waves are keeping
perfect rhythm with the
beating of our hearts

I see the longing looks
reflecting in her emerald eyes
as searching hands caress
the softness of the moment
the tender sighs that echo
in the stillness of the night
are telling me our time is now

the rhythm of our hearts now seems to quicken
as waves begin to pound against the shore
our bodies quickly come together
and form a tender eclipse of our hearts

then suddenly a deafening clap of thunder
jolted me out of this sensual dream
the brightness of the lightning fills the bedroom
reminding me that love is but a reverie

and the storm rages on
