A More Excellent Way
Let the strong bear the infirmities of the weak, for surely
Offenses will come, but those who love God's law will
Vanquish the reproaches after receiving then as venial,
Especially to those of the household of faith,
till the weak become strong, because
An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth,
what you do to me I will do to you is
Not the love of God nor the Spirit of Christ,
Especially to those of the household of faith-
Who are free to love through the law of the Spirit of Life.
So when any smite you on the cheek, turn the other
Cheek to him, also, and if any sue you and take away your coat
Offer him your cloak, also. When any say all
Manner of evil against you falsely, for Christ's sake, and when
Men revile you and persecute you, rejoice, be exceedingly glad,
And pray for them which despitefully use you. Love your
Neighbors and your enemies, and bless them that curse you;
Do good to them that hate you so that you
May be called the children of the Father;
Especially to those of the household of faith, please your
Neighbor for his good to edification, and provoke your enemy with good,
Till a change comes, for love will suffer long and sometimes wrong.
