An outpouring of feelings
that surges up from the heart
and splashes against the soul,
love is exclusive to humans.
The heart entertains a multitude
of inexplicable emotions
beyond all norms or expectations.
More than a ubiquitous word,
love is an overwhelming desire
that burns in the heart
and consumes the soul;
oft defying logic and reason.
A heart filled with love forgives
what an empty one would not,
for love's a knee-jerk reaction
that requires no thought.
Love can be an excruciating pain
or a euphoric rush,
either way, it will not be ignored
and never goes away.
