A Hurting Heart

Beggars seldom get to select their preferred meal, accepting whatever scraps fate's willing to give. An empty stomach oft seeks filling where it can, it's not particular about the source at hand. A lonely heart doesn't question if love is real, convinced there are sparks; it ignites passion's flame. And trust overrides any risk or chance of pain, a feeling so strong that it compels you to try. Reality blurs in the world of make-believe, where tears sketch the shadowy edge of nightmare dreams. And easily blinded by love's exquisite light, joy gives in to lust as relationships begin. Overwhelmed by smiles, suspicion seeks out the truth, and immersed in self-pity, futures fall apart. A jilted heart bears countless scars of betrayal inflicted by flattery, fake smiles, and sweet lies. The illusion of love oft leads to frustration as feldgling hearts pursue its elusive embrace. And yet, hope never abandons a hurting heart, fueling desire, dreams, and fantasy wishes.
