A Heart's Desire

I felt fingers.

Drumming against my chest,
Dragging down my rib cage,
Thirsty for my heart.
It chimed every time you made me feel alive.
It was a symphony. I will never deny.

I felt lips.

Each gentle touch awakened the sleeping feelings in me.
It warmed the cold cells that lost its meaning.
As it moved, giving warmth,
Forcing me to take my armor off...
I felt flowers grow, where they left a mark.

I heard a voice.

A mother's lullaby to a broken child.
An antidote for my inner cries.
It carried a breeze,
That blew away the anger in me.

I saw a mirror.

A mirror of dreams.
For I saw a Queen,
The one I wished to be.
Crowned with magnificence,
Clothed in tranquillity,
I was the woman, I wanted to be.

I felt a quake.

Shaking the towers that kept me tall.
Was I going to let my city fall ?

Oh...

It wasn't you.
The shaking faded,
The flowers gave away,
The winter crawled back in.
The light, as it's been known for,
A sign that it's the end.
