A Forgotten Relic
Her favorite dress lies gathering dust,
yet in my mind, I still see her in it.
My tinder-heart is set afire with love's
inextinguishable, eternal flame.
She lingers in the shadows of the night
when she visits me in my tear-filled dreams.
We had faced life's obstacles together
before she died; I was never alone.
The hands of time failed to lessen my grief,
her passing pierces my heart every day;
And I've become a forgotten relic
buried under memories of my past.
In truth, I'll welcome the angel of Death
if by His side stands the love of my life.
And as she lovingly embraces me,
life's candle sputters out, and we are one.
