Love Poem: Not Here, But There With You

Not Here, But There With You

I bring to bear the thoughts of parting smiles,
Forever they will track me down the miles;
The hardly hidden sadness that they cloak,
The misting eyes in falling rain and smoke.

Leaving you, the one who means so much,
Allegiance sworn, I never will lose touch;
And lock the promise in me, never fleeing,
Affirmed with every fibre of my being.

The silken dreams of friendship sheath each day,
Despite I let the cards fall where they may;
And in the light of all I see and do
My heart belongs not here, but there with you.
