Love Poem: If,
Jim Cross Avatar
Written by: Jim Cross

If,

-
when i say if,
it's as if i haven't got a wish,
when i say if,
there is a reason to quit -

i don't say if anymore,
then loves at the door,
so please don't just stand there,
let em in -

when i'd said if,
i didn't notice our feet
touched the same ground,
when i'd said if i couldn't believe
in what I'd found,

if cannot know a journey,
is a day in a life left yearning,
for more of the same,
if cannot explain why,
the sea is an eternal flame,

when words are found,
to songs never sung,
like all of Suzanne's apparitions,
becoming one,
isn't this a journey,
we've already set up camp,
thoughts of you while,
turning off the bedside lamp,

when i say if,
i dismiss what i feel,
there's no rules,
in journeys with no beginning,
and no end,
together holding hands,
with imagination at each end-

if is a wish,
and a journey,
a today only embarked upon,
if is a dream of smiling hair,
entangled souls,
missing mates,

if is a bitter pill,
whose only truth is time,
will not stands still,
but maybe it will,
if,
if, is not what i feel -
