I Was Just Thinking That If Newborns Came Out Regular Size That Would Most Likely Hurt

I A FLIGHTLESS BUTTERFLY

I was deaf because mine eyes were fixated on lips that your words were dripping from
The lips I could see being purified and baptized by a shared glass of rum
you asked me to help with something but you were just as capable as I
And when you’d leave and return it was always loveliness my eyes did espy

You asked me a litany of questions when you wouldn’t answer one
But I’d know more about truth when our conversations were done
All I know is that your thoughts of joyfulness impressed me so
And when asked if I thought our love would come to an end I prayed to answer no

When I first saw you I was stunned by your countenance divine
The first thing you said to me that made me smile I recall line by line
So here’s what we’ve established thusly and up to this point
It is your tangible tenderness that the essence of you came to anoint

But love isn’t always confetti floating gently to the ground
It ends when something tells you that you’re losing what you finally found
Because love is more than dancing on a rooftop on a speckled sky night
And two hearts that meet and both souls suddenly take flight

Love is working to work it all out for the both of you
Love is vowing to do whatever your lover wants you to do
Love is springtime when lilies lift their heads to the sun
But as fleetingly fast as love had begun it can too easily become undone
