For Within Thine Eyes, I See Love's Eternal Gaze - a Collaboration With Robert Lindley

How shall I, let your kind and most tender heart go
with its immense depths, sweet kisses, resplendent glow.
I could do no such, no more than I walk away
sweetheart, I love you too much, this truth I dare say.

For within thine eyes, I see love's eternal gaze
its light penetrating through, world's morbid, dark haze!

On your beautiful dear face, an angelic smile
its tenderness born from a true soul without guile.
I pray thee, ask me not to this truest romance leave
condemn me not to darkness, wherein I must grieve.

For within thine eyes, I see love's eternal gaze
its light penetrating through, world's morbid, dark haze!

Know this soul and its salvation came from your heart
infinite bliss, desperate plea, that we not part.
I beg your safe return from that far distant shore
from treasures of our reunion, we part no more!

For within thine eyes, I see love's eternal gaze
its light penetrating through, world's morbid, dark haze!

...my mind does ever wander the wonders of Spain -
to live without you has been my infernal bane...

My spirit hangs damp, like Spanish moss in huddles
as melancholy raindrops wed rings in puddles,
only to vanish like vows we were to exchange
the fibers of our oneness now in disarrange.

For within thine eyes, you’ve lost love's eternal gaze,
Sun’s eclipse penetrates world in morbid, dark haze!

Tides of separation swoon under our sad spell
and upon your lost-love sword bayonet I fell.
Return you not from far distant shore of retreat,
this Southern man slayed, myself filleted in defeat.

For within thine eyes, you’ve lost love's eternal gaze,
Sun’s eclipse penetrates world in morbid, dark haze!

This soul knows not its salvation nor your treasure,
our reunion is in ruins beyond measure.
As my being’s a dank cavern without your light
I shiver in painful throes from your guileless smite.

For within thine eyes, you’ve lost love's eternal gaze,
Sun’s eclipse penetrates world in morbid, dark haze!
