Love Poem: Ace Illegal Love

Ace Illegal Love

'You are fighter pilots. No one and nothing must ever stand in your way. Nothing must stop you from defeating your enemy and winning. Not even a girlfriend...'

The boss said:
I forbid you to have a lady.
No girlfriend or mistress.
And don't get married.
You'd need my permission for that.
And it's denied.
Women will distract you from your task.
That of destroying the enemy.
Anyone who disobeys my orders will be punished.
Do you understand?

Otto wondered.
Disobey on killing the enemy,
having a mistress or both?
He already had his first kill,
a lumbering Fairey Battle.
It had been sickeningly easy.
Like killing a pigeon.
The crew had burned alive.
But on love...
Would he be shot?

They should never have been together.
But his reliable Daimler Benz engine changed that.
He crash landed on her farm.
And now they were together.
She made him helpless.
Had captured him.

Things happened fast.
I'm closer her son's age than her!
What am I doing?
I must end this!
But Otto never did.
He fell deeper and deeper into her.

She makes me vulnerable to the enemy.
For I have disobeyed orders.
I have fallen in love.
In love with an enemy's widow.
That love can distract me when I'm about to pull the trigger.
My enemy can kill me.
She is my secret.

I see the early morning sky in your eyes.
No danger, only a fabulousness to behold.
Let us dance on the clouds,
loop above the sun,
follow the birds east.

Not even flying is like this,
being with you.
You are more precious than my warplane or even flight.
You are the sky.
Beauty is yours.
All of it.

They had ten short months together.
Then Otto was sent away to Russia.
To kill sub human Soviets.
