A Witch's Lullaby

when the sun sets down,
at far end of the town;
when night creeps in,
sky full of silver spin;
when mortals are drunk in spirits,
voyaged to the slumberland;
i walk down the bridge,
to fulfil my grudge.
stealthily waddle to avoid all sight,
thick mist shields me to aid my fight.

ages ago, i was ablazed
burnt down on injustice pyre, demon gazed
i was named satan's mistress
not enough to distress
pale hide venin, golden locks gorgon's serpent
my body devil's vent
hours talk the elder held
maimed me,left to bleed
choked me,
stoned me,
when that didn't satisfy
charred me,left to die.

anguished and sore
my powers rose
i took a solemn oath-
pain for pain,a little game
life for life'll only satisfy

bewared evil's kin
for i woke every spring
sorrows were the guide
chiseled with anger and pride
and thirst for their blood
led me to their hut

and year after and every year to come
life for life, pacified some
so legend went around
the witch was back in town
and i took twisted pleasure
hurting them at leisure

one spring,nineteen ninety nine
when everything was fine
i rose again, walked in front of his gate
he followed me at once
awed, my beauty n gems
he asked my name
poor soul! never to understand my game
wooed by concocted charm
would do his harm

comeuppance haunt!
his forefather's deed
their inhumane and greed

thought he would pine
but then his eyes met mine
bewitched my dead soul
and flipped my role

i whispered in his ear
a song he hear
he closed his eyes
i was gone for the night

i screamed
i cursed
myself in agony
i spared the devil's progeny
so waited for the next sunfall
when i again crawled

bewildered my gaze
i saw him amazed
standing where we left
told about a theft
his heart was mine
wished to make me his bride

his eyes in moonlight
unaware of my plight
his hand rested on my cage
enough to dampen my rage

he painted a picture so bright
against the lust to hurt him,i fight
future full of promises
life a melody,sweet voices
alas! my cold heartless cage against his warmth
his lustrous hide against my pale

so i sang again
i whispered in his ear
a song he hear
he closed his eyes
i was gone for the night

back on my grave
never to kill again
a crimson rose swell
and i sleep well
no pain for pain
no life for life
a heart for heartless cage

but beware you kin
for every spring i sing
i whisper in your ear
a song you hear
you close your eyes
and i'm gone for the night
