A Stranger As I Am

A stranger, we were, the first time we met
Like freshly transformed butterflies, we had no regret
One thousandth-worth of questions; we wanted to know
While we mingled with that one promise; we couldn’t let go

A stranger, we were, meeting for a second time
And by slowly devouring our fears, I found you in I’m
Below us, lies the moon, playing games like a thief
And then you entangled me with your religious belief

A stranger, we were, until we became friends
When we started sharing our thoughts under a special lens
We let, not one night passes by without saying a word
Refreshing each memory along with the early birds

We’re now friend for life and we’re strangers no more
With only the depth of the heavens, to answer for
We’ve come a long way and have uncovered a great deal
We’ve been strangers in dreams; it’s now time to make it real
