A Stormy Prison Turned Mercilessly Stubborn

i hardly recognize the brand new you
the fog has changed me and left my canvas monotonous
you remind me of the day we first met
i was a streetlight transient sneezing out prayers
you were the apple of everybody's everything
i saw you as a crutch when i should have been thanking the Lord
you picked me up, dusted me off, and encouraged me that i could and i would
i remember the hard drop in my stomach when you opened that door ten years later
i remember the wind of change turning into a stubborn storm
the next day has been the rest of my life ever since
you hardly acknowledge little old me
i tanked, so yes i do deserve it
now i'm outranked, and of course you are most beautiful when you preserve it
all i can do now say whisper Congratulations! to you internally
my self made prison is relentless and devoid of mercy
i am a carpenter who flunked out due to massive tin and aluminum damage
