Love Poem: A Poem For You

A Poem For You

a poem for you...

because to speak of feelings,
tender as first shoots through snow,
would weight them in concrete
drown them in hesitations
while a search, for right words, stutters forth
as butterflies they might leave my mouth
only to die of misunderstanding.

even such license as poetry grants
yet it is not nearly so fine as the ink
from god's nib that writ in stone and stars
the history of loving another

grass has greater tongue to sing
of the stirrings that move through
as I learn the lessons of you.
every form and cell that pulses

creating each day again and again
a wonder of laughter and purpose,
still moments, wherein peace lies.
mind to mind thoughts roll like surf
and the heat of you beside me
skin to skin making love.
