A Memorial Ode To My Father

On these occasions,
I realise the feelings
As spontaneous as a surprise,
Time went by at a lightening speed,
And it feels like a decade since your exit.
When life seemed quite easy,
Having nothing to care about
I went on hopping timezones without any doubt.
Nothing really mattered,
As you always had me pampered.
Sweet time played a zephyr all my childhood
With you by my side, as strong as some mighty kingdom of knighthoods.
You always protected me in a bubble,
Though you never showed it to anyone.
You would go out boldly for your friends
In the middle of an alarming curfew night,
And beat up those who harass them.
You’d even break a bone once in awhile
Due to goats climbing up on your motorbike. ??
Those days were happier,
When I used to plan my days
Thinking of ways to make you go bonkers.
I annoyed you every single day,
But you hardly complained and let me have my share of fun days.
As years revived,
And brighter months turned dimmer,
As you felt weaker and weaker,
Without me realising even once
That you needed me,
You needed to be at peace.
You wanted me to settle somewhere,
Rather than spring like a nomad, heither & thither
But It’s too late now,
Because far east,
I again hear the bell ringing,
That face shall never need or turn to me
As once again this year.
If time could ripple according to my will,
I’d have all your wishes fulfilled.
I woke up with half-lingering thoughts,
Who never understood what a Father’s day was,
Because everyday it’s your day,
If I could make it happen my way.
With an eclipsed heart I hold my pen,
And hence, I finish an ode to my dearest man.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY BABA
