A Lover's Dilema

A lover's dilemma Too often you say we find ourselves arguing With angry exchanges, little room left for bargaining. Leaving us both feeling so desperately low, All the while dearest still loving you so. It's right for you to say it can’t go on like this When a love like ours should be nothing but bliss. No joy knowing with me you are never at ease When all I desire is for my love you to please. You say you can't be yourself whenever I'm about, Does that mean my presence you would do better without? Too often you feel words I use are only critique. Given time I will learn to improve my speaking technique. Oft you admit that you can't read my feelings. I do understand this adding confusion to our dealings. Those moments when I surprise you with unwanted reactions Can only mean you are left with very few satisfactions. On occasions when you speak crushed eggshells repeat. Still there remain good reasons to ignore final defeat. If you believe there are times we are disconnected. Then all the more reason our love is protected.
