A Letter To My Granddaughter

When daddy brought you home all eyes were on you
As I held you tight to my heart as you rap your
Little finger around mine and smile was all I can do
As the years go bye every night I drop to my knees
And pray to the lord to keep you safe
Not a day goes bye that I don’t miss my angle face
Sweet voice calling out the name you choice for me
How you would always say your so silly
How you eat and run not gain a pound
The bed time story
The wake me up to make you break feast
Each morning and ask to help cook
Bye my side
Our when you hide one of your toys
That I come across when you go back home
The way you wrinkle your nose when asked
A question you don’t know
How you pose for each picture with your hands
At your sides and a smile
How we point at our eyes to say I
Tap our hearts as to say love
Point to you and I as to say you
I love you
The birthdays come and go so fast
The hugs come and go
But in my heart I keep each visit
And the kisses until I open the door
To see you run into me with loving arms around me
I miss you too
