Love Poem: A Happiness Gone

A Happiness Gone

I’ve never seen skies so perfect as this
The clouds parted to reveal that blue I miss
With every breath, the air caresses me inside
So renewing I forget the last time I cried

Within the field, the scent of nature all around me
Sunshine warming flowers as far as the eye can see
On a hilltop a tree triumphs all in its seclusion
Holding a beauty that tricks my eyes as an illusion

With each step I take the more my heart races
I can’t believe it’s you, here of all the places
That tree shading you from the sun of my land
Finally being able to reach out and take your hand

Your eyes, as beautiful as I’ve ever could envision
Old feelings flow to my heart with such precision
That story we’ve written being told in the breeze
All the years of pain ended, a long waited appease

Inching closer, my eyes close to savor this time
We come together, after so long, like a perfect rhyme
It took so long for this, a long fight for this to gain
I’ve found my place, where with you I wish to remain

I open my eyes, only to stare into a deep dark void
My perfect world is no more, forever destroyed
Cruel how the mind can be, I remain its mere pawn
Leaving me with just a dream, a happiness gone
