A Forever Type of Love

Sometimes it is not the person we miss,
but the memory. Yet, it is so difficult to forget
when love lingers like a haunting.
It's a perfume permeating everything,
quite like a lily while in full bloom,
but eventually it wilts to nothing
because the one you choose,
the one you picked, is meant only to live
with their purpose as a muse.
So lovely; so destroying.
A backlash with no regret as a secret stash
in your mind to to go back when you're old
and want to relive that time and say,
"Yes. Yes, I loved once. I loved so hard
my heart holds a scar and I can still smell it.
Hand me my lily and I'll tell you my story."
