A Fool Is Born

I found myself in San Antone
wonderin' who these cowboys are.
I am not anything like them -
I choose not to wander alone.
Some say I came here on a whim.
Deep inside I do not know why.
It will come to me by and by.
Perhaps not - some things never do.
The air was warm, the river, too,
as I let my mind take its stroll
around the town - some flash - some droll -
then settle on an open door.
Framed was beauty not seen before,
and my soul cried out, "Tell me more!"
She stood barefoot - moved to and fro -
a rhythm only she could know.
I could not take my eyes away -
knew that I'd be a fool this day.
My mouth went dry and made a smile,
my ears rang - my vision a blur.
I knew it then - had for awhile -
I came to San Antone for her.
