Love Poem: A Child Is Born

A Child Is Born

A CHILD IS BORN

Who am I, why am I here ?
I felt myself being squeezed
And then I was being pushed
Towards a bright shining light
I came out of the water
And cried out, I was cold
I see objects moving
And hear people’s voices

Suddenly I hear a voice
I think I heard before
That feels good in all this strangeness
But why does it make me anxious?
Then I recall those adrenalin moments
When that voice was angry and aggressive
It was then I felt the racing of my heart
And a nervousness in my stomach.

But then someone cuddled me close
And loving eyes look into mine
She kisses my forehead
And then strokes my cheek
That familiar voice again, loving and sweet
Soothes me as I search for something to eat
She puts me to her breast, this is heaven sent
This must be my mother, I feel so content.

This poem was written to make parents aware that the foetus hears and is sensitive to moods and emotions of the mother from 4 months of gestation.
