A Broken Promise

When I'm gone, please don't grieve,
she made me promise her, one day!
Just go on, and live your life.
Now please - do as I say!

I've loved you dear, and our life as well.
I've had the very best!
Remember, just how blessed we were,
after I am laid to rest!

I heard what she was telling me,
and vowed, that I would try.
I promised her, with all my heart,
that I'd be strong, and wouldn't cry!

That promise wasn't hard to make,
while she was by my side.
But the pain became unbearable,
ever since the day she died!

My world is cold and empty now.
It has made me lose my will!
The promise that I made to her,
I'm unable to fulfill!

Yes, my dear, I'm crying!
But, the reason is, you see.
These tears are not for you, Sweetheart,
these tears, I cry for me!
